What's a 'web'?
In TWiki parlance, a 'web' is a name-space, a forum or a segment of the wiki that is focused on one subject. It makes administration and management easier by focusing the scope of the material.
The
TWiki and
Main webs are adminstrative. The
sandbox is for playing around in, trying out ideas and learning to use TWiki.
This is the CISSP Forum Web.
It is intended primarily for CISSPs and SSCPs. Other security professionals are welcome to read here, but contributions by
non-(ISC)2 certified people may be removed without notice.
What's A 'wiki'?
A Wiki is a collection of interlinked web pages, any of which can be visited and edited by anyone (withing the bounds of the access controls) at any time.
At one level its a Content Managment System. At another it is a very, very sophistocated and well structured bulletin board system. But it is much more than that!
What are the aims of Infosecwiki?
The Infosecwiki's goal is to create a fshared community workspace for CISSPs and SSCPs. It's an ambitious goal, and will probably take many years to achieve.
Frequently discussed issues
One of the purposes of the Wiki is to retain knowledge and make it easliy retrievable. Not only does this Wiki have index and search capability, which is part of the capabilities of web engines, but it also the very nature of a Wiki makes it suitable for knowledge based forums.
Experience with the CISSP Forum on
Groups.Yahoo
has shown that each wave of new CISSPs asks roughly the same set of questions, and that some topics keep recurring each year. It seems to be like the old "Time is a Spiral" idea; it sort-of goes in a circle while moving forward.
A Wiki makes the previous cycle instantly part of the present.
Yes, you can search the archives at
Groups.Yahoo
, but you are dealing with individual messages and you have to reconstruct the thread of questions and response the hard way. With the Wiki, the thread is all on one page.
To learn more about a Wiki - documentation, how-to, guides and other introductions - visit .... well lots of places on the
TWiki web
